#EndangeredSpeciesAct
The Southern Rocky Mountains do not abruptly end at the Colorado State line. Rather, the Southern Rockies’ San Juan and Sangre de Cristo Mountains – both of which include contiguous suitable habitat for lynx – extend well into north-central New Mexico, as far south as the City of Santa Fe. Therefore, organizations including WildEarth Guardians, Sinapu, Center for Native Ecosystems, Animal Protection of New Mexico, Animal Protection Institute, and Carson Forest Watch signed onto a comment letter formally requesting that the Fish & Wildlife Service take immediate steps to update and amend the lynx’s Endangered Species Act listing status and range to include the mountainous regions of north-central New Mexico.
