Reflective Images, a Santa Fe based designer jewelry company that creates contemporary interpretation of classic tribal motifs, (www.celticjewelry.com) has chosen to off set its carbon imprint with WildEarth Guardians.

“It’s part of our radical circle-based business model that creates wealth through support of community and ecology,” said Marc Choyt, president of the company. “It is too late to be merely sustainable. We have to find ways, through business, to regenerate collapsed eco and social systems.”

Choyt added that WildEarth Guardians’ carbon offset is unique because we concentrate on restoration of ecosystems, which generates the greatest long-term benefit. “Other companies are merely mono-cropping. This program supports interconnected, natural systems.”

Choyt’s collaboration with WildEarth Guardians is part of his wider strategy of minimizing impact of jewelry manufacturing that includes using recycled metal, purchasing from fair trade suppliers, and using “green” energy. His company has been recognized in the jewelry trade for outstanding designs and the exemplification of socially responsible business practices. In 1996, the City of Santa Fe has named the company one of the most visionary in the community.

“We are trying to create a grassroots movement in our industry among jewelers and consumers,” said Choyt. “Join our discussion on our blogs, www.circlemanifesto.com and www.fairjewelry.org.”
