100 Year Anniversary of the Gila Wilderness: Lecture by Michael Berman

May 17 @ 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Obscura Gallery, Michael Berman, the New Mexico Museum of Art, and WildEarth Guardians will celebrate all that’s exceptional about our beloved Gila Wilderness on its 100th birthday, with a particular focus on the long legacy of storytelling through art and literature that the landscape has, and continues to inspire, and how those stories draw the lines between imagination, conservation, and policy. Through the magic of Michael Berman’s photographs, and stories of place-based connection told by Berman, we’ll celebrate the wonders of this country’s first wilderness, and we’ll think boldly about what’s needed to protect this special place for the next 100 years.

Location update: This event will take place at the New Mexico History Museum.

Event will be followed by an Artist’s Exhibit Reception at the Obscura Gallery from 5-7pm.

The exhibition is on view May 17-June 29, 2024.
