Guardians, allies protest March sale of lands to frackers

Today Guardians, allies, and a number of landowners filed a protest against Secretary Zinke’s plans to auction off 63,000 acres of our public lands in Montana for fracking. The lands are located near Livingston, Montana—the gateway to Yellowstone National Park—and also near the iconic Beartooth Front.

Selling these lands to frackers threatens not only the global climate, but also Livingston’s local one. Local conservation groups and landowners rightly fear that fracking will destroy the landscape and poison the population.

The sale is scheduled for March 13, 2018. The Bureau of Land Management will likely decide whether to grant or deny our protest just before the sale.
