The Interior Department’s proposal is truly sinister. Over the holidays and amid a federal government shutdown, the U.S. Department of the Interior proposed a massive overhaul of our Freedom of Information Act regulations.
As we previously detailed, the overhaul has one purpose: to undermine government transparency and shield the Interior Department from public scrutiny.
Worse, it’s calculated to protect the fossil fuel industry, which views transparency as a “burden.” Not surprisingly, the architect of the overhaul is a former advisor to the Koch brothers.
