With great urgency, WildEarth Guardians, the Center for Biological Diversity, Sinapu, and the Rewilding Institute request immediate action by the United States Fish and Wildlife Service to prevent Catron County’s imminent illegal killing of the pregnant alpha female of the Durango Pack of Mexican gray wolves. The county demanded on April 26, 2007 that the Service violate its own guidelines by permanently removing this wolf from the Blue Range Wolf Recovery Area. On behalf of our collective membership and the majority of the American public who support the letter and spirit of the Endangered Species Act and care about recovery of the “lobo” on southwestern public lands, we implore you to abide by your mission of species conservation by publicly opposing Catron County illegal wolf-killing ordinance and committing to full criminal prosecution of illegal wolf killing.
