Mark your calendar and register now, because you certainly won’t want to miss WildEarth Guardians’ inspiring Earth Day Eve conversation with Carole King. Not only is Carole King one of the most celebrated and iconic singer/songwriters of all time, but she’s also been actively involved with wilderness and wildlife protection for decades.

WildEarth Guardians is excited to sit down virtually with Carole—and Mike Garrity of the Alliance for the Wild Rockies—on Wednesday, April 21 at 6pm MDT to talk about the Northern Rockies Ecosystem Protection Act and the urgent need to boldly protect and restore America’s wild, public lands.

WildEarth Guardians believes that systemic problems—such as the nature and climate crises—require bold, systemic solutions. Few solutions could be bolder, or bigger, than the Northern Rockies Ecosystem Protection Act (NREPA), which will designate 23 million acres of public wildlands as wilderness and 1,800 miles of rivers and streams as Wild and Scenic.

NREPA will establish a system of biological corridors to connect large protected areas and preserve the migration patterns and habitats of imperiled native wildlife species such as grizzly bears, Canada lynx, bull trout, wolverines, sage grouse, and wolves. NREPA will also establish wildland “recovery areas” on federal public lands, which will create sustainable jobs undoing the damage caused by destructive activities like logging and roadbuilding. As an added bonus, NREPA will save taxpayers tens of millions of dollars by eliminating heavily subsidized logging and road building in wildlands that would be designated as Wilderness.

For decades, Guardians has worked to erase the scars from misuse of public land and to rewild the lands and waters, so NREPA will help achieve our vision of healthy, connected wild places and waters for wildlife and people. That’s why WildEarth Guardians is proud to endorse the visionary Northern Rockies Ecosystem Protection Act, which was just reintroduced in Congress.

Take part in the WildEarth Webinar with Carole King and Alliance for the Wild Rockies and hear how NREPA also complements President Biden’s executive order to put America on the path of protecting 30 percent of its land and ocean areas by 2030. You’ll also be able to ask questions of Carole and Mike to learn how bold land protection efforts like NREPA will significantly advance the goals of the Green New Deal and help the U.S. meet its nationally determined contribution to the Paris Climate Agreement.
