WildEarth Guardians’ Dr. Lisa Markovchick explains why mature and old-growth forests and trees on federal public lands need protection

Watch this short video from WildEarth Guardians’ Southwest Conservation Advocate and Ecologist, Dr. Lisa Markovchick, to see why mature and old-growth forests and trees on federal public lands are so important for the climate, wildlife habitat, clean water, and biodiversity.

Unfortunately, while these “climate forests” should be a cornerstone of U.S. climate policy, the federal government is still actively logging mature and old-growth trees—and even proposing more future logging projects.

With the U.S. delegation attending the COP27 UN Climate Change Conference in November 2022, please join us in calling on the Biden administration to protect mature and old-growth forests and trees on federal lands from logging.
