“We deserve better”

Today, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) will auction off 4,200 acres of public lands in northern Arizona to the oil and gas industry. The auction includes lands near Petrified Forest National Park and two rivers, the Little Colorado River and Silver Creek.

BLM is foregoing environmental reviews until development rights for the lands have been sold to industry, which further opens the door for corporations to inflict lasting damage on water sources.

More than 80,000 people have sent letters opposing the sale, including U.S. Representative Tom O’Halleran (D-Ariz), residents of Navajo and Apache counties, and conservation groups.
