Lynx Conservation in the Southern Rocky Mountains: Agency Neglect Threatens Lynx Recovery
The fate of the lynx in the Southern Rockies still hangs very much in the balance. The failure of the Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management to take the reasonable conservation measures they long ago promised increases the likelihood that the Southern Rockies lynx population will die out before it can become a self-sustaining, healthy population. These failures are compounded by Colorado’s lackluster implementation of its own hunter and rancher education plan and the refusal of the surrounding states to adopt even these minimal measures.
