This visually poetic film delves into the New Mexico stretch of the Rio Grande — an iconic but endangered American waterway — amidst the challenges of climate change and the urgent need for environmental justice. Through stunning imagery and in-depth interviews with a diverse range of residents, Requiem for a River reveals the river’s role as a lifeline in the desert and explores whether the keys to a more sustainable, equitable future may lie in New Mexico’s ancient past.

Following the screening, stay for a panel discussion featuring Dagmar Llewelyn (Reclamation) and Joseph Suina (Cochiti Pueblo)who will share their unique perspectives and insights on the future of the Rio Grande and the fight for environmental justice in New Mexico. Don’t miss this opportunity to engage in a meaningful conversation about the river that shapes our landscape, our lives, and our future.
