Analysis still needed

After deferring land in Greater Chaco from being sold to frackers in March of 2018 due to the need for more cultural study and consultation, the Bureau of Land Management plans to hold another sale in the region this December. The kicker: no study has yet been undertaken.

The December sale includes 45,000 acres in the Greater Chaco area, and four of the lease parcels are within 10 miles of Chaco Culture National Historical Park.

The public comment period on scoping for the sale ends July 27. Guardians and a number of allies have submitted comments opposing the sale.
